Elsie C. Vaughn, (nee Schmidtke), age 79, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a brief illness.
She was born on March 2, 1925 in Chicago, IL, moving to Lorain in 1968.
Elsie was active with her friends in antique collecting and the Senior Citizens Groups here in Lorain.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, theater and arts and an avid Indians and Browns Fan.
She was survived by her sons: Charles G. Vaughn of Dobbs Ferry, New York, Kenneth G. Vaughn of Apache Junction, Arizona, daughter: Charlene Brown, of Rochester, MN, 4 grandchildren, 1 brother: William Schmidtke, of Fort Meyers, FL, and a sister: Edna Oltmanns, of Chicago, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years: Charles G. Vaughn, Sr., in 2000, parents: Gustav and Carolina (nee Krammer) Schmidtke, 1 brother: Fred Schmidtke and sister: Lorraine Martens.
A memorial service will be held in the Arlington National Cemetery, Washington D.C. in the Spring of 2005. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, handled the arrangements.
