Earle "Steve" Baxter

Earle "Steve" Baxter Jr., 75, of Lorain, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 at University Hospital Medical Center, Elyria.
Born Feb. 27, 1940 in Cincinnati, he moved to Lorain in 1955.
Steve graduated from St. Mary High School, Lorain and received a bachelor's degree in business from Ohio State University. Steve served in the United States Air Force.
Steve enjoyed golfing, playing cards, reading and tutoring people in reading.
Surviving is his son Earle "Chip" (Teresa) Baxter III of Tampa, Florida; daughters, Kathleen (Michael) Hirst of Concord, Ohio, Maureen (Rick) Pengov of Thompson, Ohio and Jennifer (Bob) Schuler of Avon; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Michael (Sue) and Tim both of Lorain, Tom (Patsy) of Ft. Myers, Florida; sisters, Suzanne Verespe of Texas, Bari Lynn (Dick) Jefferys of North Carolina, Becky Callihan of Florida, Michele (Mike) Fath of Las Vegas and Libby Baxter of San Francisco.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earle and Barbara (nee Wright) Baxter Sr.; a sister, Teresa; and a niece, Erin Wohlever.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 10th from 3:00 - 7:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 am in the funeral home followed by mass at 11:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Edward J. Smith will officiate. The Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20 will conduct military honors.
