David L. Bennett, age 75, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on October 26, 1937 in Canton, Ohio, living in this area most of his life. David worked at Charleston Car Wash for 37 years. He enjoyed collecting cars, working on puzzles and watching wrestling.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Lois (nee Carver), son, Joseph Franco, of Victoria Wedell, of Avon Lake, Mary Bronish, of Elyria, Bonnie Menthen of Oxford, MI, Holly Vanpelt, of Gilbert, AZ, Vivian Kubal, of Sheffield Lake, Davi Bennett, Lynda Bennett, both of Lorain, and Greta Beck of Toledo, 21 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, and sister, Jeanette Hartley, of SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Bennett, brother, Donald R. Bennett, sons, Donald J. Bennett and Bobby Jones.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013 from 6-9 p.m. at Beacon Baptist Church, 3407 W. Erie Avenue, Lorain. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling the arrangements.
