It is with deep respect and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of David A. Smith, who left us on May 18, 2026, in his hometown of Lorain, Ohio. Born on July 5, 1967, David lived a full and meaningful life marked by kindness, generosity, and a profound commitment to his loved ones and community.
David was a lifelong resident of Lorain, where he graduated from Bookside High School before embarking on a dedicated career in maintenance, ending his career with Pleasant Valley Corporation, where he worked for many years. He was known not only for his strong work ethic but also for his genuine warmth and willingness to help others. A true friend to everyone he met, David's kindness and friendship touched countless lives.
Beyond his professional life, David was a man of many passions. He cherished riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, fishing, and cooking. He had a unique talent for creating a welcoming environment, famously crafting his own bar in the backyard where family and friends gathered to share stories, laughter, and memories. Spending time with those he loved was at the heart of David's life, and these moments brought him immense joy.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Krista Smith; his sons Andrew Smith, Joseph Smith, and Raven Smith; and his daughters Kyra Long and Chasta Gilliam. He also leaves behind his brother Jason (Debbie) Smith, his sisters Kathy (Dan) Spence and Mildred (Eric) Hohman, and other cherished family members and friends. They remember him as a devoted husband, a caring father, and a loyal brother whose presence will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his sons Christopher Smith and David Smith Jr., his parents Richard and Betty (nee Lambert) Smith, and his brother Gary Smith. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who knew David and in the stories shared at family gatherings.
