Charles E. Robinson

Charles E. Robinson, 63, of Lorain, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain, following a short illness.
Born January 22, 1952 in Lesley, West Virginia, he came to Lorain in 1959. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1970 and served with the US Marines Corps until 1973.
Charles served as a fireman for the Lorain Fire Department for 25 years, retiring in 1997. Prior to this, he worked for Ford Motor Company and Lorain Works US Steel.
He was a member of Beacon Baptist Church, Lorain, and also attended Christian Life Church, Lorain. He was also a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 267.
Charles loved to golf and enjoyed all sports. He was very competitive by nature and liked playing softball and basketball. He also enjoyed watching the television show NCIS.
Charles is survived by his loving daughter, Heather (James) Nau of Chatham, New Jersey; a granddaughter, Harper; brothers, Alan (Cathy) Robinson of Sand Springs, Kentucky and Richard (Cheryl) Robinson of Lorain; and a sister, Barb Sheppard of Connecticut.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Clara (Chrisman) Robinson; and a brother Eugene.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Rev. Wallace Justice, pastor of Christian Life Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery. I've known Charles since I was a teenager. I would often help him with housework. In those times, he would counsel me and give me advice to keep me on the straight and narrow. He was a good man and will be missed. My sincerest condolences to his other friends and family.
