Bonnie J. Bires

Bonnie Jean Bires (nee Oden), age 91 of Amherst, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain.

Born March 10, 1933, to Arthur and Marcella (nee Wunenburger) Oden in Toledo, Ohio, Bonnie lived in Ohio her entire life.

She enjoyed collecting mice, swimming, gardening as well as taking care of her animals. Her biggest joy was taking care of her husband of 58 years, Thomas Bires.

Surviving are her children, Jane (Salvador) Jacinto, James (Mary Lyn) Bires, John (Jacqueline) Bires, Barbara (Sonny) Martinez and Joseph (Deborah) Bires as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Thomas Bires; son, Thomas Bires Jr., both of her parents and a sister, Gloria.

Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bonnie’s honor can be made to Whispering Acres Farm Animal Sanctuary, 7496 Norwalk Rd, Medina, OH 44256.
