Betty Susan Dongarra (nee Keene), age 86 of Lorain, went home to be with the Lord, on Friday, January 3, 2014.
She was born on February 27, 1927, in Portsmouth, Ohio. She resided in Lorain for most of her life. Betty was a loving mother and enjoyed caring for her family and others. Her wittiness and smile was a joy to those around her. Past time activities included sewing, crocheting, embroidery, baking, gardening, reading scripture and keeping up with current events. As a nurse's aide for area nursing homes, she was a comfort to those in her care.
Betty is survived by her children; Brenda (Thomas) Yovan, of Lorain, James Dongarra, of Florida, Sheila Amburn, of Tennessee, Rick (Fe) Dongarra, of Florida, and Shannon Dongarra, of South Carolina, 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 25 nieces and nephews, and her sisters; Violet Beyel , of Wisconsin, and Doris (Phil) Curry, of New Jersey.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Anna Null, in 2013, parents; Arley and Anna Mae (nee Wilburn) Keen, brothers Arlos Keene and Willard Keene, and her sister, Kathleen McClintic.
In honor of Betty, the family will hold a private memorial service.
