Berenice Rivera (nee Carreras), 85, of Lorain, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain, following a short illness.
Born March 1, 1930 in Utuado, Puerto Rico, she came to Lorain in 1999.
Berenice was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, and enjoyed sewing and cooking.
Surviving are her sons, Luis Rivera Jr. of New York and Isaias Rivera of Lorain; daughters, Lillian Rivera-Andujar of New York, Edda Rivera of Puerto Rico and Emily Rivera of Florida, many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Luis Carreras of Lorain and Jorge Carreras of New York; and a sister Ana Martinez of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luis Rivera; parents, Delores and Margarita (nee Santiago) Carreras; and 12 brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Monday from 9:00 am until the time of mass at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. William Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
