Avanell (Ava) Wedgeworth (nee Hall, nee Rogers) was born October 19th, 1946, in Dry Creek, Kentucky to Bill and Lillian Hall (nee Conn). She passed away peacefully in her home in Elyria, Ohio on July 3rd, 2025. She was 78 years old.
She lived in Kentucky with her family until she moved to Ohio when she was about 17 years old. In Kentucky, she attended Harold School of Education. In Ohio, she worked at various thrift stores, and for Lorain Products for many years.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and was a Sunday school teacher for many years in the 1980s.
An avid animal rescuer, she was very passionate about trying to help any living creature she saw in need. She was an exceptional gardener and cook. She would refurbish and repurpose antique furniture and adored collecting Knick knacks. She loved to go for long country rides, thrifting, and reading her bible in the evenings.
Avanell was a devoted mother to four children and a beloved second mother to many children that grew up around her. She was a wonderful wife, grandmother (affectionately known as Granny), great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and a friend who will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her four children Candice M Rogers, Robin L Rogers-Jones (Marshall), Robert JK Rogers (Lindsay), and Joseph B Rogers, her grandchildren Bethany, Leanna, Robert Jr, Ruthie, Zack, Bailey, and Carter, her great-children Alexandra, James, and Bentley, her ex-husband Bobby, her sisters Flossie, Virgie, Lydia, Margaret, Phyllis, and Betty, her brothers James Paul and Earl, plus many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Lillian Hall (nee Conn) and Bill Hall, brothers Charles, Raymond, and Bill Jr, sisters Mary and Norma and her husband Raymond Wedgeworth.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 am. Rev. Larry Newsom will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
