Angel Alvarado

April 21, 1931 — December 28, 2016

Angel L. "Pappi" Alvarado, 85 of Lorain, passed away Wednesday. December 28, 2016 at Wesleyan Village, Elyria, following a lengthy illness.
Born April 21, 1931 in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, he came to Lorain in 1960 where he has lived since. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He worked in the Rolling Mill of Lorain Works US Steel for 29 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104. He enjoyed working around the house, working on electronics and loved animals.
Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Elsie Olga (nee Maldonado); a son, Angel L. Jr of Lorain; daughters, Aixa (Ron) Thompson of Lorain, Myrna (Robert Thompson) Alvarado of Bucyrus, Ohio; grandchildren, Jeremy, Adam, Jessica, Tiffany, Nicole and Desiree; many great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernardo and Evangelia (nee Colon) Alvarado; brothers, Antonio and Algio; and sisters, Rosa and Margarita.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 am. Rev. Louis Maldonado will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Disabled American Veterans, will conduct military honors.
