Andres Aponte

Andres Aponte, age 83, of Lorain, died on Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain.
Andres was born on November 30, 1928 in Puerto Rico, moving to Lorain over 50 years ago. He was employed at Ford Motor Company, Brookpark, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Cecilia (nee Garcia) Aponte, his children; Aileen (Matthew) Aponte Valatka of Elyria, Luis Aponte, of Streetsboro, Andres Aponte, Jr., of Lorain, Edwin Aponte, of Lorain, Ermelinda (Dana) Mislinski, of Amherst, Alex Aponte, of Lorain and Lisa Aponte Lander, of Lorain,12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a sister, Rogelia Aponte, of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Gavino and Dominga (nee Diaz) Aponte, brothers; Manuel Aponte, Santos Aponte Diaz, and Angel Aponte, and a sister, Carmen Santiago.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 15, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio 44001. His funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. Fr. William Thaden, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain is handling the arrangements
