Abel Ceja, 76, of Lorain, died Thursday, November 18, 2004 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
Born May 20, 1928 in Lorain, he has lived here his entire life.
He graduated from Lorain High School in 1950 and attended Ohio State University for 2 years. He then served in the US Air Force and the US Army.
He worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of The Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20, Lorain.
Abel enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, cooking, reading about history, and walking along the lake to watch the sunsets, and listening to classical music.
Surviving are his sons; Gregory Ceja and Mark Ceja both of Elyria, daughters; Vivian King of Berea, Roberta Wolford of Pikeville, KY, and Regina Register of Brooklyn, Ohio, 8 grandchildren, brothers, Ted and Jesse both of California, and Henry of Lorain, sister; Frances Flores of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Jose and Esperanza Ceja.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00  9:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Daniel O. Divis, pastor of St. Marys Catholic Church, Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
The Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20, will conduct full military honors.
