Kenneth D. Landy, Sr. age 59, of Elyria, died on Monday, May 4, 2009 at EMH Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.
He was born on July 19, 1949 in Lorain, and lived in this area most of his life.
He attended Clearview High School and joined the Army serving as a specialist SP4. He served during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Combat Infantryman Badge, Marksman.
He served from 1973 to 1978 as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corp earning a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal with one star, Rifle Marksman and Shooters Badge.
He had been working at Plastic Enterprises for Spherion Temporary Service until his illness.
He enjoyed sports
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Jr. of St. John, AZ and Sean, two brothers, Bud and Ed, both of Lorain, sisters, Catherine Simms and Shirley Belmont, both of Lorain, Pat Kidd of Wakeman and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Audrey (nee Carpenter) Landy, brothers, Elmer, Billy and John and sisters, Virginia and Betty.
Full military honors will be conducted at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 11;00 a.m.. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is in charge of the arrangements.
