Eleanor Potocnik

Eleanor Potocnik (nee Krupski) age 99, passed away at her daughter and son-in-laws home in Springboro, Ohio on April 21. She had resided with them since 2008 after moving from her home in Lorain, Ohio.
She was born in Monessen, PA on January 6,1918 to the late Sergei and Yedockey Krupski who immigrated from Russia. Eleanor was married in September 21 1948 to her husband Stephen Potocnik for 51 years. She graduated from Lorain High School and attended Lorain Business School for secretarial skills.
She was employed by Thew Shovel Company, Lorain, and later worked for her brother, Dr. John Krupski, as a secretary/receptionist. Eleanor was an active member of her church, St. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, PTO, and had been a Sunday school teacher.
Eleanor enjoyed baking for her family, especially around the Christmas holiday. She was an expert seamstress taking pride in making exquisite doll clothes for her daughter's dolls.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Jane (Robert) Welsh, Springboro, Ohio; a granddaughter, Abby (Alex) Alusheff of Holt, Michigan; and a grandson, Daniel Welsh, Arlington, VA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Potocnik in 2000; her brothers, Charles Krupski and Dr. John Krupski; her sisters, Marie Wilson, Ann Atanosoff, and Fannie Charles.
Jane lovingly cared for her mother for 4 1/2 years during a difficult decline in her health. The family dog "Scooter" was her loving companion, always by her side.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of funeral services at 10:00 am at St. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 2238 E. 32nd Street, Lorain Ohio. The Very Rev. Fr. Basil Stoyka will officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eleanor's memory to St. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church or to Hospice of Dayton. Special thanks to all of her caregivers and especially to Anna Wheeland of Anna's Angels who took excellent care of her. Mom your faith in God was so strong and you loved life. You will now be able to "walk in the Kingdom of Heaven".
